Dojo – training hall.

Kata - a series of movements that links many moves together into an imaginary fight.

Bunkai – application, such as kata bunkai or hoju undo bunkai.

Kumite – sparring, prearranged sparring (yokusoku kumite) or free sparring (juyi kumite).

Shoken – First knuckle fist, also called ippon ken.

Boshiken – Thumb knuckle palm strike.

Hiraken – four knuckle fist.

Empi uchi or Hiji uchi – elbow strike.

Seiken – front two knuckle fist.

Shitte Ken – upper cut fist.

Uraken – back fist.

Haito – ridge hand.

Shuto – knife hand (sounds like "sh-stoe").

Nukite – spear hand.

Keiko – crane beak strike.

Kizami zuki – snap punch

Gyaku zuki – reverse punch

Oi Zuki – big punch

Ni Ren Zuki – "1-2" punch.

San Ren Zuki – three punches.

Mae geri – front kick (kekomi geri – thrust kick or keage geri – snap kick).

Yoko geri – side kick.

Mawashi geri – round kick

Kakatsu geri - crescent kick

Ushiro geri – back kick.

Kaki geri – hook kick.

Sokuto geri –edge of the foot kick.

Chusoku geri – ball of the foot kick.

Sokusen geri – big toe kick.

Haisoku geri – instep of the foot kick.

Hiza geri – knee strike.

Kakato geri – heel kick

Tobi geri – flying kick.

Jodan uke – high block.

Chudan uke – middle side block (chudan yoko uke or chudan kosa uke).

Gedan uke– low block. (gedan harai uke or gedan kosa uke).

Koken – bent wrist fist or keito .

Sanchin dachi – forward triangle stance or sankaku dachi .

Neko ashi dachi – rear leg or cat stance or ko kutsu dachi .

Tsuri dachi – crane stance.

Shiko dachi – sumo or tiger stance.

Zen kutsu dachi – forward lunge stance.

Heiko dachi – parallel stance.

Masubi dachi – attention stance.

Kyusho jutsu – nerve striking art (tui-na – acupuncture)
